Tonight I Fell in Love

Tonight I fell in love, and she said it right back.

She whispered me a sweet song in the key of crickets.

She kissed my neck with her soft blowing breeze.

She put on a show across her land, I didn’t dare look away.

She shows me her curves in the form of hills and valleys.

She tickles my skin with her mellifluous grasses.

She lights my arms and my legs on fire with tiny buzzing black dots.

She sends me gifts of critters,

sometimes too many,

but I know that’s the overwhelming abundance of admiration we share.

She hears me sing and watches me dance.

She knows what is good and I try my best to do her no wrong.

Tonight I fell in love, and she said it right back.
